To celebrate the 85th anniversary of the Blue Train Race, British luxury automaker Bentley has created the Bentley Mulsanne Speed – Blue Train Special Edition

The Blue Train Races are record-breaking competitions between automobiles and trains held in the late 1920s and early 1930s. It was an attempt of a number of motorists and their own or sponsored automobiles in a race against the Le Train Bleu, a train that ran between Calais and the French Riviera. In March 1930, the famous contest was won by Bentley Chairman Captain Woolf Barnato, and 85 years later Bentley celebrates the anniversary with four lavish Mulsanne Speed – Blue Train vehicles. The number four is meaningful, as Barnato made it back to his London club just four minutes before the Blue Train reached Calais.

The Blue Train is one of the most famous and celebrated cars in the world, and it perfectly embodies the racing spirit of Bentley. Woolf Barnato was a three-time Le Mans victor, but winning the Blue Train race captured the public's imagination, and fuelled the legend of the Bentley Boys. – Bentley Heritage Collection CEO Richard Charlesworth

Bentley Mulsanne Blue Train Limited Edition is created by Mulliner, the automaker's bespoke coachbuilding division. The design of the anniversary vehicle takes inspiration from the Speed Six that Barnato drove. The fluting pattern in the door panels and the rear quarter inserts can be found at Barnato's original car. There is an image of Barnato's Speed Six featured in the dashboard whilst the treadplates showcase the "Blue Train 85 Years" words. Similar to the Speed Six, Bentley Mulsanne Blue Train features features a square mesh design on the front grille.
